Room Dub

This one was originally breathed into existence as a remix for a track called Colours in 2010. The original version was written and produced by Florian Kruse, Nils Nürnberg, and Stelios Vassiloudis signed to my label Fresh Meat Records as Wiretappeur. For my version I took influence and samples from several favorite 90s records and sub-genres including the NYC wild pitch sound, the Chicago Prescription vibe, and the early Parisian sound of Ludovic Navarre under his St Germain pseudonym. I jammed it all together and used a friend’s TB-303 as the instrument for the main bass line. I had been thinking a while about making something with a TB-303 that would not exist as an “acid track” so to speak, and I think I hit that target with this track.

In 2024, I did an edit of the remix, making it about 2 minutes shorter and getting rid of any breakdowns. I remastered the track and as a result we have Room Dub. It’s currently available anywhere music can be streamed or downloaded. The reception for Room Dub has been surprisingly positive both on the 21st century dancefloor and by modern DJs. Good to know it’s still got legs.
